Filing Requirements:
These are what you need to submit:
1. Tell us who you are.
Individual
a) full name b) address
c) identity card/passport number d) nationality
Company
a) full name b) address
c) state/country of incorporation
2. Who is the Designer?
a) full name b) address c) identity card/passport number
If you are not the Designer, tell us why the Design belongs to you.
by employment
by commission
by assignment
3. Give your Design a Title.
4. Show us your Design with different views.
Please print your Design on strong A4 paper. Eight (8) copies for each view (Maximum Size: 12.5 cm x 9 cm).
5. Do you know which Class your Design is under?

6. Have you filed your Design anywhere else?

Please provide:
a) country filed
b) application number
c) priority filing date
Certified priority document and certified English translation (if applicable) need to be filed within 6 months from the Filing Date.

At One Glance
There are 2 stages to go through:
1. Application: You secure a Filing Date and get an Application Number.
2. Examination: Your application will be examined on formalities and its registrability.
Costs will be incurred in different stages.
Objection
There might be objection in stage 2. If there is, you have to decide whether to counter the objection or to give up your application.
Grant or Refusal
If your Design passed all 2 stages, a Certificate of Registration will be issued and your Design will be advertised in the Government Gazette. If your application is refused, you can appeal to the High Court of Malaya.
Renewal
The protection is 15 years ( 5 + 5 + 5) from the filing date.
